Laal Ishq is a relatively new concept bringing together two most loved genres by Indian audiences. What are your thoughts on it?

The concept of Laal Ishq seems to be quite interesting. It’s been shot very realistically, unlike the typical daily soaps that have made a clutter on television. The show is a blend of different concepts put in well together.

Can you briefly tell us about the character you’re playing?

I am playing this young boy, Amar, who is flamboyant, charming and a go getter. Just like most of us he too has dreams and ambitions in life, but is not someone who would compromise on his belief. He wants to achieve everything in life righteously. An unfortunate incident gets him into trouble and how life unfolds after that is the story.

Laal Ishq follows an episodic format. Do you prefer this format over the infinite ones that go on for years?

Honestly, I prefer the finite ones which have a defined storyline, wherein one knows the exact occurrences from start to end, something longer than the episodic format. Considering the work pressure on television it becomes difficult for an actor to settle in an episodic format immediately, brain storm the character, understand his psyche and bring out something different than the usual. It requires prior preparation, you need time to think. I want the audience to see a different me every time I appear on screen.

Do you believe in supernatural elements? Have you ever experienced anything supernatural?

Well, I believe when there is Good, there is Bad and when there is God there is Evil. OH YES, I have had an extremely eerie experience. This was on one of my previous shows, and it was terrifying. I was resting in my green room and was asleep, the lights were on while my eyes were not completely shut, you know how it is when you’re consciously sleeping but subconsciously are aware of things around. Suddenly I felt a figure right in front of me, something was moving and watching me, I could feel it . Initially it did not scare me but as it got closer I could feel the fear inside . I tried to speak, confront but I was choking, I couldn’t speak . Finally after wrestling around I shouted and woke up all of a sudden. Everyone on set had come up to my room, I was sweating and this definitely was no dream there was definitely someone around. You can never know the feeling if you have not experienced it.

Have you ever played a spooky prank on anyone? If not, then one person you would want to play the prank on?

Hahaha I’d love to play a prank on my sister definitely. Such things scare her easily. Usually when we go to our farm house, we discuss a lot about spooky things at night, share our experiences and narrate stories. It’s fun in a family gathering but the funniest part is observing everyone post the discussion . Not one person goes alone to the room. It’s hilarious to see how they all behave.

One classic love story you would want to give a supernatural twist to? And who would you like to star with in that story?

Yes, it would be DDLJ. I would like to star as Raj (SRK) . While Raj is already dead and only Simran can see him , she eats with him, talks to him , runs around trees with him, while she is romantically involved the family thinks she has lost it. In the end Raj has to go and Babujis epic dialogue is reversed and Raj says it ‘Ja Simran ja, jee le apni zindagi’. This would be a hilarious supernatural story.

Your favourite actor from the millennial lot?

For me, it would undoubtedly be Nawaazuddin Siddique and RajKumar Rao.

Any future projects?

Well yes, I am eagerly looking forward to a web release early next year .
