Guru Randhawa judge of Love Me India

“I am an extremely spiritual person and believe that whatever I have achieved is due to Guru Nanak ji’s blessings towards me. I can’t start my day without seeking his blessings and thanking him for this beautiful life and the success I have received. This is a habit that my parents inculcated in me at a very young age and I continue to follow it even today. Sometimes, when I find myself feeling overwhelmed during shoots or concerts, I take a minute to remember how blessed I have been and immediately I feel a sense of positivity prevail within me. I remember the time when I had decided to take the path of being a singer, my parents would keep telling me to just have faith in God’s bigger plans and success would eventually find a way in my life. I am grateful to them for creating this faith and belief within me. While I have no special preparations for Guru Nanak Jayanti, like every day I am going to remember him and quietly thank him for fulfilling all my wishes.”

Every year, I celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti with my family in Punjab but this time around, I will be in Mumbai. While back home, our entire family gets together but since I am in Mumbai, I will go to the Gurudwara in the morning to seek blessings. On this day, fireworks are organised as it is celebrated in a big way in Punjab. I just want to share one small message with everyone that there is only one God, but they have different names. Have faith in God and be true to yourself always. Wishing everyone a very Happy Guru Nanak Jayanti.

“Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the 10 gurus, is an important celebration for us. Celebrations begin with morning processions known as Prabhat Pheris as people proceed to the Gurudwaras singing hymns. In fact, a day before the occasion, procession known as Nagarkirtan is organised. I always make sure to organize a langar or a charity event or another such activity on this day, making people happy and giving back to the community. I give all the credit of my success to my Guruji and my guiding light Guru Nanak Saheb for the blessings and goodwill. In this hectic and competitive life, I make sure to take out few minutes every day and remember him. However, this year I will be celebrating the day in Mumbai and visit the Gurudwara for blessings. Being in Love Me India, I am also planning to take the contestants for an outing full of masti, food and will narrate to them the importance of Guru Nanak Saheb and his ideals, which hold us to the roots of being a good human being.”

Since I’m a Sindhi, we’ve always celebrated Guru Nanak Jayanti with much fervour. Every year on this day, the whole Sindhi community gathers in a huge hall for a prayer meeting which is followed by a prasad lunch.  In the evening, there is a huge procession in which people dance to the traditional music and serve prasad to everyone.

For me, the best way to celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti would be to remember all the teachings and walk through the path of Guruji’s learnings. Being a follower of Guru Nanakji, I always make sure to visit Gurudwara and seek blessings on his birthday.
