How different do you think is Laal Ishq from its contemporaries?
I don’t think Laal Ishq can really be compared to any other show currently airing on television. This is by far the only show that beautifully captures as well as flawlessly blends love stories with supernatural elements. The mix of these two unique genres and a new pair of popular television faces every week makes it for a great watch for the audience.

With so many popular faces being a part of the show, do you think the concept is getting lost?
Not at all. Infact I think Laal Ishq’s concept is its strength, coupled by the power of the some of the most popular faces of television. A good script along with a popular face to narrate the story is the number one hit formula, be it films or television shows. Moreover, fans love watching their favourite stars experimenting with different genres of shows.

What made you take up this role in Laal Ishq? Any other story from the show which you would have loved to be a part of?
To be completely honest, I haven’t watched any other episodes of Laal Ishq. I solely took up the show because of the concept, which is extremely unique in more ways than one. With romance and supernatural being my favourite genre, taking up this show was a no brainer.

If given a chance how would you scare your co-star Aneri?
Aneri and I have never talked about spooky stuff. But whatever little I know of her, I feel she is the type who will scare people, but not get scared herself! (laughs).

Supernatural happenings generally creeps everyone out, what is that one incident which has left you sleepless and scared?
There was an incident that happened some time ago in my Yari road house. When I narrated this to my friends they laughed at me, but I wasn’t making it up and this actually happened. I was at home engrossed in reading a book when someone called out my name and I instantly replied ‘Yeah coming!’ But I was actually alone at home.

One classic love story that you would like to give a supernatural twist
I would love to give a supernatural twist to the classic movie Titanic, having Leonardo Di Caprio come back to life even after freezing to death. Rose and Jack would reunite, and everyone who were left heartbroken after watching this movie would be happy (laughs).

If not an actor, what other passion you would have pursued?
I would have either been an Automobile Engineer or a Chartered Accountant.

Every actor has that one turning point in their life which leads them to their dream path. What was your turning point?
It wasn’t an easy ride till here, but the turning point in my life was definitely when I did the show ‘Mere Rang Mein Rangne Wali’. It was my first show as a lead and it gave me a lot of recognition.

What is your fitness mantra? And how do you manage it with your busy shoot schedule?
I’m not a fitness freak, yet I believe in staying healthy and fit. I follow a simple diet where I try to avoid carbs and fatty foods as much as I can. I eat at intervals, keeping my meal portions small. I ensure to at least sweat it out in the gym for 5-6 hours a week.

Given a chance in Bollywood, which actress would you like to co-star with? And why?
Well, my favourite actress is Alia Bhatt and I am completely smitten by her work. She is versatile and a natural actor, it would be an honour to work with her and may be after that we could also go on a date (laughs).
