Lucknow’s Robin Hood Army conducted a two-day food distribution drive on August 14-15 to celebrate Indian and Pakistan’s Independence Day. The goal was to serve 20,000 lesser-privileged people, and the  Robin Hood Army ended up achieving a target of 26,003. The drive started at midnight on August 14, with close to 50 volunteers (youngest being 14, oldest being in his late 40s) on the trot distributing food to rickshaw-pullers, rag-pickers, and across orphanages, government schools and slums.

The areas which were covered included areas in Vibuti Khand, Ballu Adda, Ghanta Ganj, Ansal construction site, Triveni Nagar, Ashiana, Indira Nagar, Nishatganj.
The food partners for the drive, who graciously provided freshly-cooked chhola chaawal, poori-sabzi, samosas, pulao, as well as packaged food were:
Team with a Dream NGO, FICCI-Flo, Lucknow Mavericks Round Table-255, The Better India, Hotel Comfort Inn, Hotel Silvete, Royal Sky, Hotel Best Western Levana, Rollarappa, Chancellor Club, Fairfield by Marriott and Human I M NGO.
Speed Isuzu very kindly organised all the logistics, including food pick ups and drops for the hugely-successful drive.
This drive saw combined efforts of people coming from different background working for a common motive of zero hunger and zero waste. Looking at food sourcing and number of volunteers (more than 100) who turned up for help, it seemed the entire Lucknow was united to fight this war against hunger.

Brief about #Mission500k:

The #Mission500k drive across India and Pakistan will involve volunteers coming together to feed 500,000 people in both countries on August 14-15. At the local level, we have set a target of 20,000 people. Our food partners, mentioned as above, have graciously agreed to contribute food for the requisite number of people, which are volunteers will distribute on the given two days.
The Mission is being supported by a number of renowned personalities and organisations, including start-ups like Zomato, Book My Show and Inshorts. Actor-director Farhan Akhtar has also associated with us for the mission, starring in a music video to promote the cause. Farhan Akhtar puts it best: “The Robin Hood Army’s desire to feed half a million people across India and Pakistan this year on their respective Independence Days is an effort I whole heartedly support. I appeal to people everywhere to participate in this incredible initiative to help eradicate hunger and malnutrition. It’s our world. We have to make it better.”
