The multiple Emmy Award-winning international contemporary choreographer appears on Dance India Dance as a challenger to its contestants
Zee TV’s popular dance reality show Dance India Dance has seen some of the industry’s most renowned choreographers come on the show as ace challengers and throw interesting challenges at the contestants week on week. This weekend, the audiences are in for a special treat as the multiple Emmy Award-winning, internationally acclaimed contemporary choreographer, Mia Michaels will be seen on the show. She challenged the contestants to bring alive three critical elements in their performances- Desi, Videsi & Kahaani (Indian, International & Story). Mighty impressed by each contestant’s creativity and unique story telling style, Mia not only showered them with appreciation but also shared some tips which would help them take their performances to the next level.
Alphons floored Mia with his power-packed performance on the hit Marathi song ‘Sairat Zaala Ji’. Mia not only praised his talent, but also confessed that she felt a deep connection with Alphons. The choreographer revealed that just like Alphons, she too suffered from a hip and leg deformity as a child. She never let this hold her back from performing. Mia confessed that her passion for dancing didn’t let her give up on her dreams and she attributed her success to her willpower and endurance.
Expressing her delight, Mia Michaels said, “Alphons, you are like a pure light. You don’t let anything hold you back which makes you a superhero in my eyes. You are destined to do well, because you have the power to change the world. I encourage you to use your leg as a strength in your performances and share your story proudly. My deformity worked wonders for me as the specific range of movements it accorded me I would never have managed with a regular alignment of my hips and legs. I am a plus size woman which is rare in the American dance fraternity but I used my weight to my advantage to add more groundedness and power to my moves. It is all about making the most of what you have. Alphons, you are a warrior and will emerge a winner in whatever you do.” Upon hearing Mia’s story, Grandmaster Mithun Da could not hold himself back and said ,”I am amazed to hear your story Mia and I salute you.”
Adding some entertainment tadka and extraordinary energy to the episode, Mini Ke Master Blasters, Sanket and Saarang kickstarted the episode by showcasing superlative Mallakhamba techniques while dancing to the beats of ‘O Sayya’. Shivam and Alphons from Mudassar Ki Mandali lit up the floor with a power-packed performance to ‘Sairat Zaala Ji’. From Marzi Ke Mastane, Shweta Warrior gave a breath-taking performance to ‘Ronde Hai Mujhko Tera Pyaar’ leaving everyone awestruck. Ending the episode on a beautiful romantic note, Kalpita Kachroo and Sachin set the stage on fire with their sizzling performance on the popular song ‘Lahu Munh Lag Gaya’.
